Sichuan GN mineral exploration company (GNME) is a state-owned company, its predecessor is one of the Geological Survey institutions in Sichuan province. Since this century as China's accession to WTO, China has initially built its market economy now. Many mineral exploration companies such as GNME have to face the fierce competition after the opening of the mineral exploration market. Because china mineral exploration industry implemented for its reforming more slowly and later than building the market economy, when GNME had to face the fierce competition of the industry, GNME's managers found they must finish their projects with many problems such as chaos of project management, backward technology, simple human resources management skills and so many ills, thus resulting to employee's benefits decreasing, key technical staff turn over, the declining competitiveness of GNME. Management was aware of the huge crisis the company facing to, the company's management methods of projects had been unable to adapt to the project management needs now. They knew if GNME want to rebound, the company must establish a true modern project management system, the project management processes must be reengineered, it is the only way to be a standard, competitive and modern mineral exploration company. The paper uses many modern project management diagnosis and analysis methods to find the real reasons due to the ills of GNME project management, such as project management theory and process reengineering. And other survey means and methods are used to observe how to running the projects in GNME's the company's internal management and external competitive environment. By studying the problems found in the survey, we analyzed the problems in the project process, compared GNME's management abilities to other advanced enterprises in the mineral exploration industry, found the gaps between GNME and other advanced enterprises. fetched monitoring and control means in the GN mining company project management processes, improved GNME's project management and project risk control ability, and improved project efficiency, improve the profits of GNME, built the core competitiveness of GNME, and create a good internal competition envirment.Through this project management process reengineering, GNME has consolidated, simplified some existing management processes, established service awareness in the employees. The employees know the mineral exploration industry is one kind of service industries. By fetching the project risk in project management processes, GNME also has standardized the company's risk control mechanism. Through the process reengineering, GNME identified the inefficiency factors in the project management processes. After process reengineering, GNME improved efficiency of the running mineral exploration projects, improve the morale level of the employees, improve the core competitiveness for the company, to build and created a good internal environment, paved the way for the company to further profundity reform. In fact in this paper, there is further more work to optimize the project management processes. We have to say we only finished one a jigsaw-style research. This paper does not involve in the project performance management, the establishment of encourage system and continuous optimization of the project management in GNME. In addition, the paper based on the GN mining companies limited data, the research method can not collect more data to compare empirical studies to the proposed measures, it also can not be more scientific, more objective, in the future we will continue to improve and concern the problem. And I will do more research in evaluation system for GNME project processes management, and study in business processes to enhance GNME projects management level in the future.
