With the advancement of science and technology, communication systems have been developed rapidly.People have higher requirements for its transmission rates, functionality, and degree of integration. It makes the operating frequency of electronic devices highly increasing and the reduction of its physical size is also a major trend in the development of electronic devices. However, due to the increasing in operating frequency and the shrinking of devices,we will meet a huge challenge about deterioration in the performance of electronic devices. For example, the skin effect is becoming more pronounced, ohmic losses are increasing, energy consumption is growing in number, and reliability is reduced. These problems have become an obstacle to the development of electronic information systems in more advanced directions. As an indispensable device in the communication system,high-performance antenna systems have become an urgent problem to be solved in a limited space.Due to its excellent electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical properties, graphene has gradually become a frontier research direction in various subjects, and its application prospects in the field of electromagnetics are very broad, involving the design and manufacture of various devices from the radio frequency to the light wave band. However, research on the antenna based on graphene is not perfect, and it is difficult to adapt to the high requirements of the field of the electronic communication in the future. In this thesis, the application of the graphene material in antenna design is studied. The main contents and innovative results of this thesis are summarized as follows:First, this thesis briefly introduces the characteristics and applications of graphene, and shows the research status of graphene applied to antenna design in recent years.Second,The mathematical calculation model of graphene is introduced briefly, and its setting in the electromagnetic simulation software is explained in detail.Third, this article describes a novel dual-band MIMO antenna based on graphene, which is attached to a multilayer dielectric substrate. The antenna operates at 0.8 THz and 1 THz,respectivivey. It applies a graphene-based metamaterial structure to enhance the operating bandwidth and reconfigurable patterns are realized by adjusting the DC bias voltage applied to the metamaterial structure layer.Next, this thesis presents a graphene-based dual-band THz antenna with reconfigurable patterns. The antenna consists of a mixed structure of graphene and metal parasitic stubs, which supports two main resonant frequency points,1.6 THz and5.4 THz,respectively. The 180 degree flipping of the antenna radiation pattern is achieved by adjusting the DC voltage loaded on the graphene embedded in the metal parasitic stubs. Finally, this thesis introduces a beam reconfigurable antenna based on high impedance surface with graphene.Firstly,a high-impedance surface with a resonant frequency of 1 THz was designed, and it exhibited in-phase reflection characteristics in the 1 THz range. Then a butterfly THz antenna is loaded on this high impedance surface and the beam reconfigurability of the antenna is achieved by changing the bias voltage applied to the graphene in the high impedance surface. At the end of this thesis, the specific content of this thesis is briefly summarized, and a simple outlook for the future application of graphene in antenna design is proposed.
