Nowadays science and technology are developing rapidly, especially information and network technologies are growing in an explosive way. The rapid expansion of the application of electromagnetic waves generated growing electromagnetic pollution which brought severe electromagnetic interference. All kinds of electromagnetic energy affect sensitive electronic equipment through radiation and conduction. When this electromagnetic interference is extremely serious, the electronic device can’t work properly. The situation above is a great threat to electronic devices and systems, thus enhancing the EMC design of electronic products to ensure its proper function in a complex electromagnetic environment has become imperative.High impedance surface technology mentioned in this article can be used as a new technology in field of electromagnetic compatibility. High impedance surface is a novel EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap, EBG) structure, which is a periodic structure and is composed of metal and dielectric. High impedance surface has surface wave suppression characteristics, that is to say, within the band gap of surface wave suppression, its surface impedance approaches infinity, thus the surface wave can be suppressed. In addition, it has the in-phase reflection properties, that is to say, within a certain frequency range, the phase of incident wave and reflected wave is the same. At this time, high impedance surface behaves like a artificial magnetic conductor.Based on theoretical analysis, this article first analyzed surface wave suppression bandgap and in-phase reflection bandgap of high impedance surface, then applied high impedance surface to inhibit electromagnetic noise and design antenna. To start with, high impedance surface can be used in the cavity to suppress cavity coupling based on its surface wave suppression characteristic. Then high impedance surface was applied to suppress common mode distortions of differential transmission line, and this article proposed periodic-dumbbell DGS and HU-shape DGS and snakelike-common mode filter. In the end, based on in-phase reflection properties, high impedance surface was used as antenna reflector which reduced the thickness of antenna.
