Wireless sensor networks have become one of the most important areas of wireless communication and computer science research in recent decades,which are widely used in military surveillance,habitat monitoring and health care.The use of battery-powered sensor nodes in the network with low power consumption characteristics,these nodes are generally deployed in harsh environments where batteries are difficult to replace,so energy saving is important for increasing battery life and network life.The effective use of energy has always been the core area of wireless sensor network research.ZigBee technology is a networking simple,safe,reliable,low-power wireless communication technology,in recent years has been widely applied to wireless sensor networks.Firstly,the research background of ZigBee wireless sensor networks and the research status of MAC layer and network layer sleep algorithm are introduced.then introduces the characteristics and related application of wireless sensor network,and introduces the ZigBee node classification,network topology and technical characteristics.The existing energy saving strategies of wireless sensor network are analyzed,and finally the sleep strategy is chosen to solve the energy consumption problem.Secondly,to address the problems exiting in the present wireless sensor node dual asynchronous algorithm,such as node logic type affect energy efficiency,the relationship between data transmission and sleep and new node joining,an energy saving routing algorithm based on whole network dormancy is proposed.The algorithm proposes three new mechanisms: for the coordinator,with work and short sleep;for the routing node,with long and short dormancy;for the terminal node,because the terminal node is not responsible for data forwarding,as long as they do not send data,do not need to periodically wake up,these is data to send data,no data transmission is dormant;and for the new node takes a combination of listening and short dormancy to save energy before joining the network.the CC2630 chip as the hardware platform,and though modifying and developing the MAC layer of TI-MAC protocol stack,the network,the dormancy and wireless transmission of the coordinator,routing node and terminal node are realized.Through the real-time measurement and calculation of energy consumption of the coordinator,routing nodes and the terminal nodes,the ZigBee wireless sensor network sleep algorithm achieves the expected energy saving effect.Finally,the summary of this thesis and the future research directions of ZigBee wireless sensor network dormancy algorithm are given.
