Currently,the fifth-generation mobile communication system(5G)is still in the research phase and is expected to officially enter the development phase by 2020.The development of 5G network faces three major challenges:key capability indicators of low latency and high bandwidth,open and fine-grained network operation capabilities,and network evolution requirements which are applicable to different business needs.The gateway devices with tightly-coupled control and forwarding functions and the simplex tunnel mechanism in current mobile core network can not meet flexibility requirements of traffic management in 5G core network.This article aims to introduce SDN technology into the mobile core network to achieve traffic management to meet the developing demands of 5G on routing,Qos and network slicing.The separation of data plane and control plane and the centralized control properties in Software Defined Networking(SDN)bring new opportunities for network traffic management.This paper proposes an SDN-based mobile core network architecture that is compatible with the existing 3GPP standards.The identification of GTP tunnels in SDN is handily implemented by introducing a processing module with exchange function of packet header fields.Based on this architecture,three traffic management schemes are designed,including path planning,QoS guarantee and network slicing.Thereinto,the path planning scheme mainly gives the specific scheme structure and work flow for the identification and control of different data flows in the core network.The QoS guarantee scheme proposes to encapsulate the flow control instructions of the SDN software switch OpenvSwitch for the SDN controller to implement a fine?grained,flexible and dynamically configured QoS queue scheme based on the TEID in cooperation with the global view of the SDN controller.The network slicing scheme proposes to further divide and design the TEID field and use the field to mark and identify network slices.The scheme for identifying and isolating the network slices based on the TEID field is specifically introduced to meet the requirements of 5G for different network slicing scenarios.This paper designs two simulation experiments to verify the above schemes.The GTP packet identification and control experiment verifies the identification and control of GTP packets in the SDN network.Besides,a delay performance test is additionally supplemented to measure the delay introduced by the GTP processing module with P4 technology.The dynamic Qos queue configuration experiment verifies that the bandwidth,delay and absolute QoS guarantee in granularity of TEID can be successfully implemented by flexibly and dynamically configuring queues on the SDN software switch OpenvSwitch in the GTP tunnel simulation environment.
