Wireless LAN is a high-speed wireless accessible technology with low cost, easy deployment and so on.Along with the rising number and species of the mobile terminal applications,it makes people's daily life more convenient, resulting in a better role in promoting the production and life,it has much contact with people's lives and has become an essential part of people's life.Meanwhile, because of spreading in the air,the Wireless LAN is receiving more and more attention on its safety problems and this has been an important problem to be solved. As one of the most important aspects of the wireless LAN access authentication, the research of key management mechanism is of very great practical significance.Around the key management mechanism of Wireless LAN,this paper discusses the basic concept of wireless LAN,analyzes the security threat of Wireless LAN;then this paper expounds the IEEE802.11 I safety standards and introduces the 802.1x port based access control technology, analyzes the process of 4-way handshake and group key handshake protocol, expounds the EAPOL-Key frame structure in the process of key distribution;last,it introduces the often used secure encryption algorithm in today's network security environment, including the Hash encryption, symmetric encryption and public key encryption system. In the environment of wireless network, fast ? lightweight and low latency is very important for mobile station. The lightweight hopes mobile station in the authentication would take up less resources, low latency requires to connect to the network in a shortest time.In this paper, after analyzing the existing key management mechanism in detail, considering the defects of the 4-way handshake protocol on the safety performance and the lack of overall time performance in the key management mechanism,by analyzing the existing key mechanism and improving the technology, introducing a public key encryption system, then the paper puts forward an improved key management protocol. This protocol provides superior security performance, and is easy to deploy with the characteristic of low latency. This article adopts the method of BAN logic formal analysis of security protocols and gives security analysis of the proposed agreement. In the end of this article,it makes the simulation test for the proposed improved protocol and introduces the function and the overall design of OPNET simulation tool in detail and it designs the specific simulation model to improve key management mechanism.Testing the protocol performance through the use of simulation tools, the analysis results show that the agreement reduces accessible latency and improves the throughput of the system access and thus improves the network performance of the system. In a world,it proves that the improved Key management protocol is superior to the current protocol on time performance and safety performance.
