As one of the most outstanding progress in the field of radars,Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)is widely used in military and civil field because of the advantage of being able to work all time and all weather.The technique of SAR echo and image simulation is a research hotspot in the field of SAR,for it plays an important role in the process of SAR system implementation and algorithm validation.Two aspects of related studies were carried out in this paper: the SAR echo and image simulation of the dynamic targets,as well as that of the micro-motion targets.Through the studies,the framework for the SAR echo and image simulation of the dynamic complex targets has been established.The major contributions are listed below:(1)The 3D modeling method and dynamic electromagnetic scattering calculation method based on general electromagnetic software FEKO were studied in the first chapter.The 3D model of some complex military targets including aircraft and tank were established,then the electromagnetic scattering coefficients of dynamic complex targets were calculated by joint-programming of FEKO and MATLAB.(2)A new SAR echo and image simulation method of complex dynamic target based on electromagnetic scattering calculation was proposed in this paper.The range frequency domain echo expression was first deduced,then combining with the target electromagnetic scattering calculation and SAR imaging algorithm,a process of SAR echo and image simulation for dynamic target was given.Next according to different SAR systems,two “radar-target” range models with analysis of range history were adopted: the classic “Stop-Go” model for the common cases,while the “Inner Pulse” model for the high/ ultra-high speed situations.Finally with the method proposed,the echo and image simulation of dynamic targets were carried out.(3)The method of SAR echo and image simulation of micro-motion target has also been researched.The SAR echo model with different system parameters and different micro-motion parameters were respectively established in cases of typical micro-motion and non-rigid micro-motion,the simulation examples of propeller aircraft and vibrating wings were given.(4)A set of SAR echo and image simulation software has been developed,which is able to provide a visual interface and environment for the simulation method proposed in this paper.The software having function of scene demonstration based on STKX,can handle cases of complex dynamic target,generate the echo data,calculate the RCS?draw the range profile and simulate the SAR image.In this paper,the technique of SAR echo and image simulation was deeply studied.Aiming at dynamic complex target,a new range frequency domain echo simulation method based on electromagnetic scattering calculation was proposed.The results showed that this method is applicable for different dynamic and micro conditions,and introduces the whole electromagnetic scattering coefficient of the target,which not only has high simulation precision,but also improves the simulation efficiency compared with time domain method.The research results in this paper are helpful to the research of SAR targets recognition,micro mechanism and inversion theory of SAR micro characteristics,as well as the SAR system development.
