2?m laser has been used in a wide range of applications,such as medical surgery,photoelectric confrontation,laser radar and so on.Nowadays,the research of laser radar by using 2?m laser is a new hot spot.In terms of this radar,its output power stability is directly related to the overall performance of the whole laser radar system.In order to obtain the better output stability from 2?m laser radar,in this paper,a double corner-cube-resonator ring cavity Ho:YAG laser has been designed.And also,this system has been studied not only in basic theory,but also in cavity simulation.At last,there are abundant experiments in this paper.The physical characteristics and spectral characteristics of the Ho:YAG laser crystal are introduced theoretically.Firstly,the thermal lens effect and thermal lens focal length of the Ho:YAG system has been calculated.Secondly,the Ho:YAG laser velocity equation model has been established.And also,this paper introduces the core optical element of the double-Ho:YAG laser,called pyramid.Based on simulation,its excellent anti-detuning characteristics have been analyzed.In addition,through the cone retreat characteristics,a double corner-cube-resonator ring cavity has been designed.Finally,the type of output cavity has been compared Ho:YAG polarized laser with others different lens cavity structure,which can compensate the crystal thermal effect.Based on theory,the continuous output experiment of Ho:YAG lasers with different cavity lengths of double pyramid ring cavity has been carried out.And then,the continuous output experiment also has been carried out under the condition of compensated thermal effect by using convex lens.This paper discusses on the better output performance of the compensated laser,in terms of,slope efficiency,threshold and anti-offset ability.By using convex lens to compensate thermal effect,the maximum output power of the Ho:YAG laser system is 8.3W when the slope efficiency is 30.8%.At the same time,the output wavelength is 2090.8nm when the pump power is 31.6W.In addition,under the continuous light-emitting conditions,this paper carries out the electro-optical Q-switching experiment on output power through the double corner cube resonator ring cavity.Finally,the pulse width is 258 ns,the single pulse energy is 1.142 mJ,the peak power is 4426.4W and the output wavelength of pulse laser is 2.1?m,when the frequency is set to 6kHz and the pump power is 29.81 W.
