The design technology of miniaturized filters, which is the key technology of the high density integrated wireless microwave communication system, is also the difficult point for miniaturization microwave system design. The dual-mode ring resonator is widely used for designing filters because of its excellent performance and small size. Meanwhile, as the development of Integrated Passive Device (IPD) technology, further miniaturization of filters becomes possible. Therefore, in order to meet the higher demands of the component size for the advanced microwave system, we limit the focus on the design of miniaturized dual-mode ring resonator and its application to filter devices based on the IPD technology. The main works and innovations of this paper are as follows:1. A novel topology of lumped-element dual-mode resonator is put forward, and the method to calculate the initial value of the lumped-element parameters is also given and proved. A subminiaturization bandpass filter based on the lumped-element ring dual-mode resonator is designed and implemented by Thin Film IPD technology. The proposed filter, centered at 1.0GHz,has a area size of 4.0mmx2.6mm(0.0133?0x0.0087?0).2. Based on the proposed topology of lumped-element dual-mode resonator, a miniaturized diplexer worked in C-band,which is constructed with an impedance-matching structure of shunt short-circuited stubs, is designed. The total area size of the proposed diplexer is 2.488mm×2.668mm.3. Through the study of the relationship between lumped-element dual-mode bandpass filter and its capacitors, we find that the center frequency and bandwidth of the proposed filter can be continuously controlled by the capacitances. Thus, a miniaturized 3D hybrid integrated tunable filter,worked in UHF-band, is put forward and designed. The core size of the tuned filter is 14.42mmx9.306mm×2.394mm.
