Metamaterial means a kind of artificial composite structure with special physical properties.It has become very popular in microwave antenna field.Microstrip antennas have attracted increasing interest due to their light weight,small volume,easy to integration.Loading metamaterial on the microstrip antenna can achieve different functions according to the nature of matamaterials designed,such as the implemention of miniaturization,multi-band.This thesis is mainly studies on the use of metamaterials to achieve multi-frequency microstrip antenna technology.Mainly include the followings:First,the significance and status of microstrip antennas and metamaterials research carried out a detailed understanding,focusing on the basic theory of the microstrip antenna and the relative permeability,the relative dielectric constant extraction of the matamaterial structure unit.Second,according to the theory of microstrip antenna,two antennas with single fregquence band at 1.268GHz and 1.575GHz are designed;and designed a double split ring resonator structural unit having a negative magnetic material,Loading this metamaterial structure unit on the antenna with a single frequence 1.575GHz,Enable the antenna work at frequence 1.268GHz and 1.575GHz.Both single-frequency antenna are processed and performed physical measurement and debugging.Third,two multi-frequency antennas have been designed.Loaded different quantities of metamaterial structure unit,single frequence antenanas can work at multi-band.The first antenna is loaded with four pairs of negative material structural units on printed dipole antenna working at 2.5GHz,the antenna finally works at 2.05GHz and 4.21 GHz;The second antenna is loaded with two magnetic negative structure unit aside the radiating patch on monopole antenna working at 4.18GHz,the antenna finally works at 2.1GHz,3.1GHz and 4.2GHz.This thesis adopts the method of loading metamaterials on antenna,finally they could work in multiband.By this way,antennas are compact structure,broad band,and easy processing.Four single frequency antennas and three multi-frequency antennas have been designed,parts of them have been processed of physical.The parameters of all antennas are optimized to work at the demand frequency band.
