Space network is a new type of multi-level network including space,heaven and earth,it is also a stereoscopic and heterogeneous network,and has become the critical infrastructure that various countries contend to develop.Compared with the traditional ground link,satellite-ground link has the distinctive characteristics such as long time delay,high error rate,limited and asymmetric up-down bandwidth,and is the key factor affecting the performance of space network.It's an urgent need to establish a genuine and believable emulation environment for the testing,verification and assessment of space network.Link emulation technology is one of the key technologies to set up such kind of emulation environment.Therefore,design and develop a high-fidelity satel ite-ground link emulator is an important and challenging research subject.This paper deeply studied the design and implementation of satellite-ground link emulator which is oriented to space network,the main work is as follows:Firstly,deeply analyzing the influences of propagation characteristics of radio wave in space environment,comparing the research status of simulation technologies and tools to the satellite-ground link.Secondly,this paper proposes an architecture for parameter configurable pipelined link emulator,also called APPLE.APPLE architecture can decouple the delay,error rate and bandwidth control function according to their mutual independence in satellite-ground link?It is conducive for hardware to implement,and can provide the universality,flexibility and extensibility through dynamic configuration parameters.Thirdly,this paper designs and implements a satellite-ground link emulator which is based on APPLE architecture on Net Magic experiment platform.Building the test environment based on a standard network tester to comprehensively test the functions and performance of the satellite-ground link emulator.Test results show that the emulator can effectively and precisely emulate the delay,error rate and bandwidth of satellite-ground link,and support the real-time flexible configuration of delay,error rate and bandwidth in the link.
