In the atmosphere,the solar blind ultraviolet detection has a clean background.It can be used in ultraviolet communication system and can get a good signal to noise ratio.The problem of solar blind ultraviolet is the transmission distance.To solve this problem,we can use the ultraviolet single photon detection technology.The core of ultraviolet single photon detection is the Geiger mode circuit.Design of UV Geiger mode circuit needs three important factors: the high voltage bias with low ripple,the signal processing circuit with precise timing control quenching and recovery,the signal processing circuit must can minimum handle 1.0 ? A photocurrent.In the experiment,the high voltage bias and IC power supply with low ripple coefficient are designed,two kinds of ultraviolet Geiger mode detection system are built,and the precise control timing of the Geiger mode detection system is designed,two kinds of ultraviolet detection system of Geiger mode are tested and the experimental results are analyzed,The experiment provides a reference for solving the problem of transmission distance of ultraviolet communication.(1)The power supply system is designed in this paper.The power supply system provides an adjustable high voltage of 300.0V for the Geiger mode detection system,high voltage ripple ripple is less than 20.4 mV,the ripple coefficient is less than 6.8× 10-5,the ripple coefficient is conducive to the stability of photon counting and counting,IC power supply positive and negative voltage,positive and negative voltage ripple is less than 9.0 m V,the ripple coefficient is less than 1.6×10-3.(2)The second is the design of UV light source.The blind ultraviolet light(365.0nm)and the solar blind ultraviolet light(278.5 nm)are used as the UV light source,the distance from two kinds ultraviolet light source to SPAD is 102 mm,before the SPAD,we add UV attenuation,attenuation ratio is 4600.Two kinds of UV detection systems can be compared with each other.(3)The third is the design of hardware circuit and test platform.In the experiment,the precise timing of the active Geiger model is designed,using the designedhardware circuit to test.Under the two UV illumination,we tested the dead time,dark counts and photon counts,of geiger passive mode circuit,the optimal operating range of the high voltage bias is obtained for passive Geiger mode circuits.The output pulse dead time of passive Geiger mode circuit which used UV light source is 1.0?s.The output pulse dead time of active Geiger mode circuit which uses 280 nm UV light source is 102.0 ns.Theoretically,the upper limit of the count rate is increased from 1.0MHz to 9.8MHz,which can meet the requirements of UV image transmission and video communication.
