In this paper, the author uses the method of content analysis, supplemented by qualitative text analysis,to deeply study the articles of People 's Daily that refer to homosexuality from 1949 to 2016.The paper discusses how People's Daily reproduces homosexuality and how this kind of reproduction changes through different period of time.According to the three important turning points in People's Daily, these homosexuality-related articles are divided into four periods: the 1949-1981,1981-1992,1993-2000 and 2001-2016.Then the paper studies the theme, narrative patterns and reproduction of homosexuality of articles in each period. In order to study the evolution of the image of homosexuality, the paper also compares the differences of the articles among the four periods and explains the reasons for the change.Studies show that the image of homosexuality in People's Daily, due to the less number of reports and layout, the subject of policy bias policy news, leading to the fact that homosexuality in People's Dail is in the absence and marginal status. And because People's Daily use more of the third perspective through the mouth of the others to reproduce homosexuals, homosexuality is in the state of loss, usually as simple image.Combined with the social background,we can see that, homosexual reports in People's Daily in each period were influenced by the national policies and regulations, mainstream discourse and other social backgrounds. The gay community is in the discourse system of People's Daily as a representative of the official ideology implied in each period. Thus, this state of being coerced by ideology also embodies the otherization of the homosexual groups in People's Daily.
