With the development of science and technology, wireless transmission technology is becoming more and more important in everyone's daily life.MIMO-OFDM is a key technology in the field of wireless communication.MIMO technology can transmit and receive an antenna array.MIMO is a breakthrough of the original data analysis technology which only applies in the time dimension, and increases the spatial dimension by the establishment of antenna array, achieves the space-time signal processing mechanism in two dimensions, obtains the spatial multiplexing gain or spatial diversity. Therefore, without increasing the additional system bandwidth and transmission power,MIMO technology can greatly improve the channel capacity of the communication system and the reliability of communication data.So in order to overcome the interference caused by multipath effect and increase the spectrum utilization,OFDM modulation technique is implemented by decomposing the wide channel into a large number of narrow band channels, and have a significant effect for the elimination of signal fading phenomenon and image distortion. The main work of this paper is about the hardware design of the MIMO-OFDM technology, including the fast Fourier transform(FFT)and its inverse transform, channel encoding interleaving module, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, spatial analysis and inverse spatial analysis, channel estimation algorithm. In this paper,we introduce the algorithm used in all the modules, and focus on the details of hardware design, including the hardware framework, the amount of data processing by the algorithm, resource consumption, and clock frequency. We take advantage of Radix-4 algorithm to calculate FFT,and combine the matrix interleaving and the bit interleaving to achieve the interleaving function. We take advantage of 64-points QAM modulation and achieve its demodulation in the receiver, and solve the distribution of antenna data.Channel estimation is very critical for the implementation of wireless communication systems. This thesis mainly focuses on the algorithms for channel estimation in the wireless OFDM systems including least square procedure.
