With the development of information technology,the dependence of information technology is becoming more and more important in various fields.As the core infrastructure of information system,storage system plays an important role.In South China University of Technology,storage system also has an extremely important position.But for the history of construction,there is a single point of failure and difficult to transform for isomerism.So,it is urgent to take effective integration and transformation on the storage system to improve its availability.To improve availability of storage system,the current main solution is to upgrade the storage itself class or change the storage system architecture.Upgrading the storage means to deploy a new high class device.It can raise the availability,but it is expensive and can not protect of existing legacy resources,and there is limited space to raise the availability.Changing the storage system architecture,it not only raise the availability,but also protect the legacy assets maximumly.Based on the actual situation of storage systems in South China University of Technology and industry technology status,useing the method of changing the storage system architecture,we proposed a solution of multi-machine(storage)storage high availability architecture based on virtualization technology:storage gateway based virtualization.And transformed the storage system with the solution to raise the availability of the storage system.It can solve the following problems:1.Eliminate single point of failure,improve storage system availability.2.Shield heterogeneous,implement integration of heterogeneous resources and protect the legacy resources effectively.In This article,based on the analysis of storage high availability,we adopted multi-machine storage high availability architecture as storage high availability architecture and given the design of the storage virtualized gateway system.The work of this paper are as follows:1.According to the advantages and disadvantages of implement method of the multi-machine storage high availability architecture,we designed a solution of storage high availability.The solution not only can avoid the burden on the server side,but also can integrate heterogeneous resources.2.We proposed and designed the storage high availability architecture as storage gateway.And design each module of the system in detail using the DRBD and Heartbeat open source.3.Unisig the open source,we simulated implementation of the storage gateway and done some test on functionality and performance to check feasibility.4.Using this architecture,we transformed the storage system of the university to raise the availability and eliminate single point of failure.According to the design,simulated implementation and carring out on the actual system,we got the conclusion that the virtual storage gateway we designed can reach the target of storage high availability and it is feasible.
