In computer graphics and image field,the detailed description of geometric surface is often used with the sample texture.Surface texture synthesis is the most common technology for digital modeling for complex scenes.Surface texture synthesis is also called curved surface texture synthesis,that is to synthetize texture on the geometric model surface.Using the surface texture synthesis technique can clearly enhance realistic sense of the geometric model,promote the effect of surface detail description,improve the modeling efficiency and simplify the modeling process.According to the similarity of appearance and texture synthesis technology,we do some study on surface texture synthesis technology through the analysis for internal structure characteristics on texture samples,and finally make it realize.The main contents of this paper include:1.We present a surfaces texture synthesis method based on texel distribution.Referring to the texel distribution of sample texture,the texel distribution in surface is similar to which in sample texture,so that the texture synthesis can be directly carried out on surface.2.We apply one-dimensional radial basis function interpolation algorithm to the 3D model surface to generate the vector field on surface.We allow users to interactive a small amount of vector in some triangular surface,and the remaining vectors are obtained by interpolation algorithm.3.We propose a local texture mapping algorithm to determine the texture synthesis region.The algorithm can ensure that the target area is suitable for the texel,so that the texel will always be complete.At the same time,the proportion and location of target area can be changed automatically according to the texel distribution of sample texture.Experimental results show that the proposed method is flexible and controllable under user manipulation,which not only generates synthesized results with a high quality by controlling texels size,location and direction adaptively,but also improves the speed of texture synthesis on surfaces.Finally,we summarize the content of this paper and make a prospect on the surface texture synthesis technology.
