To state the fact, nowadays the main usage of internet is for content sharing. Either people are sharing the content or they are receiving it. Everyone wants to be up-to-date with the latest information which is being shared out there in the world. The internet makes it possible to satisfy their needs but the problem arises when people are mobile, where the previous IP based architecture can no longer satisfy the current demand. In Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) the connectivity is very short and also there is frequent change in topology. To overcome such issues and enable content sharing in mobile environments, the new paradigm called Content-Centric Networking (CCN) has been introduced in VANET. CCN is known for its name-based routing and in-network caching which efficiently improves content sharing in mobile environments. But there still exists problems like content retrieval, network congestion due to broadcasting information simultaneously, which needs to be addressed in the content centric VANET.This paper proposes a Geolocation Aided Grouping (GAG)-Based Caching Strategy. In GAG-Based Caching Strategy, the Road Side Unit (RSU) collects information(content information, interest information, vehicle ID, and destination information)from vehicles that enters it coverage area. First, the RSU compares the collected content information and interest information from which the common contents and interests are cached in the RSU, and then the requested contents are transferred to satisfy the pending Interest, meanwhile the vehicles also cache the contents. Second, the vehicles which have same destination and common interest and/or contents are grouped together,so they can still exchange content even after leaving the RSU coverage area.Simulations has been done based on the ndnSIM and SUMO simulator. The simulation results show that the proposed GAG-Based Caching Strategy improves content caching performance and also long-term vehicular connectivity.
