In the evolution of IPv4 network to IPv6 network, IPv4 and IPv6 will coexist for a long time. In the hybrid network where IPv4 and IPv6 networks coexist, there are two problems. Firstly, because IPv4 and IPv6 are not compatible with each other, the hybrid network will lead to the waste of link resources. Secondly, due to the distributed management of traditional network devices, link status of the entire network cannot be got easily. Link resources cannot be flexibly scheduled according to the real-time link status of the entire network. The traditional protocol transition mechanism can solve the problem of compatibility between protocols, but it is difficult to deploy and the mechanism is complicated. Software Definition Network is a new network architecture, which is proposed by the Stanford University. The SDN network architecture separates the data plane and the control plane of the network in order to provide flexible network flow control and simplify the configuration management of traditional networks.In order to solve the problem that the link resources cannot be flexibly scheduled in the hybrid network, this thesis proposes a solution combining the protocol transition mechanism and the SDN network architecture. This solution reduces the difficulty of transition technology deployment in order to solve the problem of data packet transmission across protocols. To solve the problem that traditional network equipment cannot flexibly schedule link resources, SDN data plane equipment access in the network. The forwarding path of the net flow can be dynamically selected according to the real-time status of the link in the network.SDN-based hybrid network link resource scheduling system is developed in this thesis. Based on the RYU controller, five modules of the control plane are implemented. They are initialization module, topology module, transition module, link status module and traffic scheduling module. Those five modules work together to solve the problems of packet transmission across hybrid networks and flexible scheduling of link resources. A Web application is developed to provide a visual interface for network managers. This system can detect the network delay in a distributed way and deploy GRE-tunnel-in-IPv6 with OVS.In this thesis, the system is tested within a simulation environment.The results show that SDN-based hybrid network link resource scheduling system is effective in solving the problems of link resource wasting and the hybrid network unable to be scheduled flexibly.
