It tries to find out the internal connection between group chat and personal social capital.Based on the strong and weak ties theory and social capital theory, the paper firstly reviews the research literatures on the mobile social networking and social capital at home and abroad, sets the definition and measurement of personal social capital, and divides the personal social capital into two dimensions of bonding social capital and bridging social capital; Secondly, the paper uses the using frequencies, frequency of participation behavior and degree of dependence to research the influence of personal social capital. The research data are derived from questionare and depth interview. The research result shows that the occupation, income are corrected with the bonding and bridging social capital, while the age is related with the bonding social capital alone. Secondly, different demographic feature also influences user's different using behaviors. Thirdly, the using frequency of group chat is related with the obtaining of personal bonding and bridging social capital, while it is not significant, therefore, it is not excluded in the regression equation .The frequency of participation behavior and degree of dependence are related with the social capital significantly, and they are included in the regression equation, the contribution value of giving behavior in the participation frequencies behavior is larger than that of claiming behavior, the influence of degree of dependence is the most significant, and it breaks people's original thinking on the negative effect of dependence. Moreover, the users in group chat obtain the social capital via relationship maintenance,self-disclosure, and request for mutual assistance. The group chat is not limited to the chat function, it becomes a huge environment for users to contact.
