With the higher circuit density,miniaturization as well as more and more system complexity,the power integrity design is becoming extremely challenging in very high-speed printed circuit board design.Power integrity and its coupling noise has been one of the bottleneck restricting the modern high-speed circuit design.Power delivery network is an important foundation of high-speed digital circuit design.The quality of power delivery network is closely related to signal integrity,power integrity and electromagnetic compatibility issues.In order to provide a stable and efficient current to the integrated circuit,the input impedance of power delivery network is always designed under a target impedance.The decoupling capacitors is widely applied for constructing a lower impedance current loop.This research is embarked on the study of power integrity in the power delivery network,where both theoretical analysis and modeling approaches of power delivery network are carried out.The main works of this paper are summarized as follows:1)Based on some previous work,the PPP method is developed to model the irregularity plane-pairs structure.Moreover,the Physics-Based Model Size Reduction is implemented to the PPP method and multi-voids plane-pairs structure is also modeled and analyzed.2)Based on PPP method,especially the time domain PPP method,the noise performance of plane-pairs power delivery network is modeled.The effect of loop inductance is analyzed form the perspective of via size and dielectric thickness.A scheme is designed to study how transmission delay affects noise voltage of the power delivery network.3)Finally,the higher accurate cavity model method is developed for modeling the power delivery network,in particular,for accurately modeling of close-via coupling.A current density distribution model with a gradient distribution in the via is proposed.In this improved cavity model,the accuracy of surface current density distribution has been significantly improved.
