Oil pipeline is a significant component of oil storage and transportation, which plays an irreplaceable role in the national economy.Pipeline cathodic protection system is a common system against corrosion and aging. However, the existing cathodic protection systems is inconvenient in use and has the disadvantage of high labor cost.In this paper, the Android client is a part of oil pipeline system of cathodic protection and remote monitoring. In coordination with hardware system, managers can easily view system status and accepts alert messages via Android client. Therefore, they can easily master the system status and take the necessary measures to ensure the system is in the best working condition, which greatly improves the efficiency of the system maintenance. The structure and characteristics of the Android system is stated at first, and emphatically discussion of relevant issues is presented, for example Handler,Intent,JSON and Database Connection Pool. With detailed needs analysis of the topic, the overall design as well as the structure of the client, server, and database is elaborated.HTTP protocol is adopted for the communication between the server and the client.JSON is used as data transmission format.JDBC is used for database connection.A database connection pool is established in order to raise the efficiency of database access.Request message of clients is responsed by Servlet. In practical terms,Android client software is divided into display module, network module, authentication module, data query module and alert message module.Eventually, after coding on Eclipse IDE,designing test cases and testing on a real machine and AVDs,the results show the feasibility and stability of the system.
