In the field of meteorological observation, millimeter-wave cloud radars has great advantages in observating the macro and micro cloud physics characteristic with its advantages of high resolution and anti-interference. However, the electromagnetic glint of cloud has serious impact on observation ability of millimeter-wave radar and can cause large degradations in accuracy of the micro cloud characteristic retrieval. The relevant theoretical analysis shows that the MIMO technology can be used to suppress electromagnetic glint of cloud effectively.In order to verify the effect about suppressing electromagnetic glint of cloud with millimeter-wave MIMO radar, a Ka-band MIMO transceiver system was designed to implement experiment in microwave anechoic chamber.First of all, the program of this Ka-band MIMO transceiver system was designed and the major technical indicators was determined. The system is composed of transmitter unit and receiver unit in structure, and it simulate the process of four channels transceiver based on time division forms through the switch.Secondly, some passive devices were designed based on the system technical indicators and related theories, including the power divider, Ka-band band-pass filter,low-pass filter, switch-related circuit and the transceiver antennas. At the same time,some active circuits are described such as low noise amplifiers, mixers and RF switches, and the power supply module and switch drive module are designed. Based on these design, the integrated design, assembly and measure of the whole system are realized. The measured results show that the system meets the experimental requirements.Finally, the experimental scheme of cloud radar to suppress electromagnetic glint of clouds with MIMO radar is designed reasonably, and the system is used to perform the experimental work in the microwave anechoic chamber. The experimental show that the electromagnetic glint of cloud can be suppressed effectively by detecting with millimeter-wave MIMO radar.
