Research And Implementation Of Incentive Mechanism For Participatory Sensing Platform

Nowadays,mobile Internet has been rising with the popularity of smart phones and wearable devices as well as the increasing speed of network band and wider coverage of mobile cellular network.Mobile Internet based applications reshape our everyday life in all aspects.In this context,"participatory sensing",which is a new way to acquire sensing data,comes into being.Participatory sensing combines the advantages of crowd sourcing and mobile Internet and users equipped with smart devices are the center of participatory sensing.Participatory sensing can acquire a wide variety of sensing data about environment,health of themselves and shows huge potential and better performance over traditional sensor networks.Participatory sensing is facing many challenges to realize its potential and the incentive mechanism under participatory sensing context is one of the challenges.Although participatory sensing does not need the cost of infrastructure in traditional sensor network,it highly relies participants to contribute sensing data.Whether or not the participants provide timely,exact and well covered sensing data determines the success or failure of participatory sensing.This thesis first introduced the notation,characters and typical applications of participatory sensing.Then,retrieved literature in the field of incentive mechanism in participatory sensing carefully and classified the incentive mechanisms to summarize properties.Dynamic budget allocation incentive mechanism was proposed and simulation was done to compare the performance among three typical incentive mechanisms.Secondly,for the experimental platform,three incentive mechanisms were designed and implemented in its basic mode from requirement analysis to general design until detail design and implementation.Last,we deployed the incentive system and made the functional test,summarized the whole work in this paper and looked ahead the work in the future.The innovative work of this thesis is reflected in two aspects.In the research of incentive mechanism under participatory sensing context,a dynamic budget allocation algorithm is proposed which combines the advantages of both fixed price incentive method and reversed auction-based incentive method.The dynamic budget allocation method can reduce budget cost,satisfy different reward demand as well as avoid the gamming overhead and the disadvantage of not supporting real time data collection.A simulation was launched to test the proposed incentive mechanism.In the engineering implementation aspect,an incentive system was designed and realized on the experimental platform which was capable of publishing tasks,budget allocation,user selection and so on.
