With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and cloud computing and Internet of things, the mobile Internet data traffic has been undergoing explosive growth, which has brought a lot of new requirements and challenges to the existing metro-access network.Traditional metro-access network neither copes with the demand of large capacity and high rate, nor realizes dynamic allocation of resources,leading to low resources utilization rate and poor network flexibility. In recent years,Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) is proposed by China Mobile, which made this kind of situation improve a little. However, in order to meet the needs of the fifth generation of mobile communication,necessary technology improvement is still needed.Based on the traditional cloud radio access network, also combined with the existing passive optical network technology, this paper put forward the improved architecture of the metro-access network. On the basis of which, the resource scheduling strategy scheme and the control mechanism of load balancing between baseband units are also proposed at the same time.The paper's main work and innovation points are summarized as follows:(1) We put forward the improved metro-access network architecture,carried on the detailed description and characteristics summary respectively of this network architecture.(2) We put forward the user resource control mechanism of the advanced metro-access network. The baseband unit (BBU) is divided into fixed resources and sharing resources. When the user resource number is not excess for the local BBU, they will be processed directly by the local BBU fixed resources. But when the user resource number is excess, the resource scheduling scheme needs to be considered in the future. In the overall user resource scheduling scheme of this paper, all the BBUs in one BBU pool are obedient to a control center which can be called Controller.And it's the Controller that decides whether need to perform the scheduling mechanism between BBUs.(3) We put forward an inter-BBU algorithm for load balancing in one baseband resource pool Simulation results evaluate the feasibility of this algorithm which can improve the network performance significantly.
