Frequency synthesizers are significant to modern electronic system,whose indexes directly influences capabilities of radar system,electromagnetic countermeasure(ECM),communication and instruments.As the development of wide-band radar technology and ECM,ultra wideband(UWB)frequency synthesizers have been important fields of frequency synthesize technology.Higher demands have been required on designing of miniaturization,frequency agility,smaller step,low-stray and low phase noise as more requirements of miniaturization and higher performances of electronic system.Researching status and developments of frequency synthesize technologies are explained firstly,then basic theories of frequency synthesize technologies are analyzed and discussed systemically,and characteristic and applications of each synthesize method are discussed,especially on ultra wideband agility frequency synthesize technologies.Further researches of key indexes as phase noise,stray and frequency hopping time on basis of former analysis have providing evidences for designing frequency synthesizers and setting indexes of electronic system.On the basis of theory research and the application of ultra wideband radar,electronic reconnaissance and ECM,ultra wideband fine-step frequency synthesizer with the advantages of ultra wideband,small step,low phase noise and miniaturization has been developed based on technologies of "wideband fractional-N PLL" and "ultra wideband microwave frequency conversion switch filter on MCM" firstly,whose working frequency band covers from 2GHz to 40GHz,with steps of 2MHz(capable to Hz level),phase noise of-84dBc/Hz@1kHz at 40GHz and fractional-N stray of-37dBc at 39.998GHz.Secondly,ultra wideband agility frequency synthesizer with the advantages of ultra wideband,small step,low phase noise and miniaturization has been developed based on technologies of"DA preset wideband agility PLL" and "ultra wideband microwave frequency multiplier on MCM" is developed,whose working frequency band covers from 24GHz to 40GHz,with hopping time less than 3?s,phase noise of-81dBc/Hz@1kHz at 40GHz and stray of-63dBc.These two ultra wideband synthesizers which establishing technological foundation have promising engineering application value.
