Fiber Bragg gratings are an important passive device,and have an important value in many fields,such as optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing.Different applications need different characteristics for fiber Bragg gratings,and many factors in the fabricating process will affect the optical characteristics of optical fiber gratings,so how to produce the optical fiber gratings for specific applications is essential.In addition,the emerging and development of some new types of optical fibers,such as photonic crystal fibers and polymer optical fibers,provides a new platform for the development of optical fiber gratings technology.The photonic crystal fiber gratings have not only new spectral characteristics and applications,and the production of photonic crystal fiber gratings plays an important role in the analysis of spectral characteristics of photonic crystal fibers.The polymer optical fiber gratings offer numerous advantages such as flexibility,light weight,and excellent characteristics such as high sensitivity,broad response range,bio-compatibility because of the low Young modulus of polymers.In this paper,an optical system for fabricating optical fiber Bragg gratings using 248 nm KrF excimer laser and phase mask is provided,and the factors influencing the performance of fiber Bragg gratings in its producing process are analyzed.The fabrication of photonic crystal fiber Bragg gratings is studied,and the cutting method,coupling method and spectral characteristics are studied.Finally,the cutting of polymer optical fibers and the fabrication of polymer fiber gratings are explored.The main contents include:1.An optical system for fabricating optical fiber Bragg gratings using KrF excimer laser and phase mask was set up.The reflection spectrum,transmission spectrum and dynamic growth process of optical fiber Bragg gratings were observed and recorded using broadband light source and spectral analyzer.2.The factors influencing the optical characteristics of optical fiber gratings in the fabricating process were analyzed,especially the effect of output parameters of excimer lasers on the optical properties of optical fiber Bragg gratings,including single pulse energy,pulse repetition frequency,beam uniformity and energy stability.3.The fabrication of Ge-doped grapefruit photonic crystal fiber and pure silica photonic crystal fiber Bragg gratings has been studied,including the cutting of photonic crystal fibers,the coupling between photonic crystal fibers and silica singlemode optical fibers,hydrogen sensitization of photonic crystal fibers and the fabrication of photonic crystal fiber Bragg gratings.4.The fabrication of polymer optical fiber Bragg gratings has been studied,including UV-lasers cutting of polymer optical fibers,the coupling between polymer optical fibers and silica optical fibers,and the fabrication of polymer optical fiber Bragg gratings.
