Resonant fiber-optic gyroscope is an inertial component that used for measuring angular velocity,which has caught widely concern of researchers in the field of optical gyroscope by virtue of its notable advantages such as miniaturization,integration,anti-overload and high precision.Different from the interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope,the resonant fiber-optic gyroscope improves its' systematic accuracy and sensitivity by multi-cycle travelling light wave,instead of sacrificing the fiber length to enhance the optical Sagnac effect while bringing the Shupe effect caused by the non-uniform temperature distribution of fiber ring.However,fiber ring resonator composed of polarization maintaining fiber,which as the core element of resonant fiber-optic gyroscope,has extremely high temperature sensitivity,and the birefringence temperature coefficient is about 72.39 10 /-? ?,which means that,For the fiber ring with the length of 1.8m,the relative resonant frequency fluctuation of the two ESOPS is about FSR/4 with each 1? change,which is very detrimental to the precisely resonant frequency detection of R-FOG.In this paper,the optical Sagnac effect is introduced firstly,The optical field transfer function of the fiber ring resonator was established,the effect of FWHM fluctuation on FRR performance parameters owing to fiber loss variations was analyzed;the principle of angular velocity measurement of resonator fiber optic gyro is introduced;several important indicators to characterize the performance of resonant fiber optic gyroscope was described;Meanwhile,mechanism of back scattering noise and polarization fluctuation noise and their corresponding noise suppression technique in R-FOG have also been illustrated in detail.Secondly,the temperature effect model of polarization-maintaining fiber ring resonator is established by use of the Jones matrix;the asymmetry of P-ESOP resonance caused by the temperature changement of FRR is analyzed theoretically;the parameters of fiber ring resonator such as FWHM,F,Q and ? affected by resonance asymmetry is explored in depth;the temperature characteristics of input light wave in the optical fiber ring resonator and its effects on R-FOG output are analyzed clearly;the influence of the resonance asymmetry on the R-FOG scale factor and the scale factor non-linearity is elaborated;finally,the mechanism of R-FOG angular velocity offset caused by FRR temperature fluctuation is expounded,and the R-FOG output is simulated theoretically.Finally,the working principle of open-loop resonant fiber-optic gyroscope is introduced;the open-loop resonant fiber-optic gyroscope system with temperature control system against FRR is designed and built;experiments to research the temperature characteristics of resonance spectrum,scale factor and its' non-linearity,zero bias and zero bias stability at the gyro output were carried out;the relationship between P-ESOP resonance asymmetry ratio and the scale factor,non-linearity of the scale factor,zero bias stability of gyroscope is built and analyzed.The results show that when the asymmetric RAR of P-ESOP resonance is 0.0075,the corresponding scale factor is 5.43 mV /(° / s),the non-linearity of scale factor is 0.34%,and the zero bias stability of 0.07 ° / s at gyro output is achieved,meanwhile the temperature of FRR is 25.50 ?;when the asymmetric of P-ESOP becomes 0.2174,its' Associatting scale factor reduced to 0.39 mV /(° / s),the non-linearity of scale factor is 0.948%,and zero bias stability at R-FOG output is as high as 6.69 ° / s,which value is 100 times larger than that that when the temperature of resonantor is 25.50?.As the asymmetric of the P-ESOP resonance increasing,scale factor of R-FOG decreases;the non-linearity of the scale factor increases,which means that the system nonlinearity aggravates;zero stability of R-FOG ends up in a increase,inferring that the detection accuracy and sensitivity of R-FOG seriously decreased.
