In recent years, with the expansion of the network scale and the advent of new business such as cloud computing and big data, the traditional network management system(NMS)has gradually exposed its shortcomings. On one hand,in order to wrestle with stress and challenges brought by the explosive growth of traffic, vendors have added more and more technology such as VLAN,DiffServ,MPLS and NAT to their devices, which makes the traditional NMS more and more dependent on the device vendors. On the other hand, with the development of Software Defined Networking(SDN),more opportunities are brought to reform the traditional network.SDN has a completely different architecture compared with traditional network,it's necessary to design a SDN NMS.Based on the model-driven engineering scheme, this paper focuses on integrating it into the development and implementation of SDN management system in accordance with the features of SDN,and modeling the important functions in SDN NMS with YANG modeling language. In addition, this paper designs a configuration management model in the realization of network configuration management module with NETCONF protocol instead of SNMP protocol usually used in the traditional NMS.NETCONF protocol not only supports more operations than SNMP protocol in the management of network configuration, but also transfers data with a connection-oriented session to improve the security more effectively.Compared with the traditional NMS,the SDN NMS based on the model-driven engineering scheme can not only support the modular development and dynamic expansion of the network management function, but also improve the efficiency of operation and maintenance in SDN NMS and satisfy for the situation in evolving and upgrading of network architecture.
