The opportunistic network is an important branch of the delay tolerant network. There is no fixed transmission path between the source node and the destination node. The messages are forwarded when the mobile nodes encounter so that the communication is realized.Due to the weak connection of the opportunistic network, the transmission performance of the opportunistic network is seriously affected. Now,the positive feedback and the advantages of distributed computing of the ant colony optimization are applied into the PRoPHET routing to collect information of the nodes and topology in the opportunistic network.Combining these information,ACOPRoPHET routing based on the ant colony optimization is designed to improve the transmission performance of the opportunistic network.Firstly, the operating principle of PRoPHET routing and the main idea of the ant colony optimization are elaborated in detail. The application principle of the ant colony optimization for improving performance of PRoPHET routing and the design idea of new routing are put forward. Then, the detailed design about pheromones and heuristic factors as well as their corresponding calculation and updating rules in the new routing are presented. What's more, the decision model of message forwarding is introduced. Finally, the simulation experiments use the Infocom06 track and the mobile model configured by the ONE,and compare with Epidemic and PRoPHET routing under the same configuration conditions. The simulation results show that ACOPRoPHET routing demonstrates obvious advantages in delivery ratio, delivery overhead, delivery delay and other performances of routing.
