Television is a main medium for sports communication. As TV covered most of families in China, which can transfer information immediately and show vivid pictures.Nowadays, for the audience is getting segmented while the soccer market is getting prosperous,soccer column can meet the needs of audience.TopSoccer, as one of the professional soccer magazine column in Shanghai Great Sports Channel, has been broadcasting for more than 10 years. It majors on China super league,CFA Cup, China national team events, premier league, and other European League, broadcasting on 20:00 every Monday. The column engages TV features together by interviews between hosts and guests. It combines professionalism, interest, interactivity and participation together, is a representative TV soccer column among same type columns.The thesis uses documentary analysis, interviewing method, contrastive analysis and other scientific method. First, the development and reform of Great Sports Channel and Top Soccer are combed by reviewing related literature. At the same time, an internship experience is combined, which promotes the better understanding of the current situation, manufacturing methods of the column. The primary data about audience rating is used for study. Second, the thesis discusses on the broadcasting content, features, and effect of the column through documentary analysis. Third, deep interviews between clinical teachers, commissioning editors and other experts in this field help to get a better understanding of the development tendency of the column.Last, through contrastive analysis, a comparison between World Soccer, a same type column broadcasting by CCTV 5, which provides a salutary lesson for Top Soccer.The thesis puts focus on the analysis of the broadcasting effects, which according to the audience rating of the 38 episodes from Aug, 2015 to May, 2016. It analyses from the whole population, market share, and target audience, finding that the level of audience rating has close relationship with league season, column content, audience viewing behavior, and even different kinds of guests. Besides, from the programs with high audience level, we can easily find that audience prefers tactical analysis, outdoor programs and programs close to local people's life.Based upon the analysis of Top Soccer, its advantages and weakness can be clearly discovered. In terms of advantages, the long-term development of column lay the foundation for its influence, and the localization style precisely catch the appetite of audience. Horizontally,the content of column can be showed on TV by various technical ways. Longitudinally,it covers nearly every field of soccer. On the opposite,the column also has shortages. For example,the host for the column is lack of identification; the consistency of column is deficient; and the TV technique is backward.To improve the competitiveness of TV soccer column, both the traditional media and new media are needed. In terms of new media, like video websites, Wechat official platform, Online live show, short video, are widely applied in communication. These technologies enable the column to build brand and achieve diversified development among the fierce competition of media.
