Recently, the passive radar technique has developed rapidly which has many advantages in electronic warfare and is concerned as a significant area. The passive radar will play an important role in the future military confrontation. The unique pattern of military radar signal is that it has a good detection performance as a signal source of a passive radar system. The thesis has designed a passive radar system and achieved the detection of the target, the estimate of distance, velocity and the direction of angle by utilizing compressed sensing technique.By analyzing the detection distance, system resolution of the passive radar in military and civilian area, the thesis makes a decision to find a suitable radiation source type. The thesis also developed a orthogonal complementary subspace algorithm and determined the responsibility of auxiliary antenna which is to restrain the interference signals.Based on the basic theories of compressed sensing, the thesis designed two algorithms to detect signals used in compressed domain directly, which is different from the traditional CS algorithms by sparse reconstructing. One algorithm is to compare the value of detection unit and reference unit based on CA-CFAR.The other algorithm is a generalized likelihood detection method without reconstructing signal. The thesis has developed parameter estimation algorithms based on the timing delay and doppler frequency shift of target signal.A new estimation algorithm has been designed based on generalized likelihood algorithm. In the meantime, the other parameter estimation algorithm is based on the sparse of signal's timing domain and doppler domain. To estimate the DOA of target signal, the thesis has utilized the random sparse array model and the fixed sparse array model. And finally, the DOA of signal has been estimated by restraining the direct wave, solving convex optimization and reconstructing the signal, etc.
