Passive radar does not radiate electromagnetic waves by itself, it relies on third-party source of the radiation to detect, locate and track. Because of the property of passive detection, passive radar is of simple structure, high concealment and anti-interference ability. This dissertation addresses some aspects of passive radar Based on non-cooperative radar illuminator. The research focus on target detection for passive radar based on compression sensing and direction of arriving estimation for passive radar based on compression sensing.By comparing the signal of civilian illuminator and the signal of non-cooperative radar illuminator, the advantages of passive radar based on non-cooperative radar illuminator are analyzed. The key technology of passive radar is analyzed. Combined with MTI technology, a method of direct and fixed multipath clutter cancellation is proposed and the performance is analyzed. Structure and working flow of passive radar are modeled.Base on the sparsity of the echo signal in range domain, the target detection model base on compression sensing is derived. The target detection and estimation of distance are achieved. Based on the sparsity of cross-ambiguity function of the echo signal in range-doppler domain, the model of target distance-doppler two-dimensional joint estimation based on compression sensing is studied. Considering the large calculation amount of the target distance-doppler two-dimensional joint estimation method is effectively reduced by using mesh optimization. The simulation result shows effectiveness of two model of parameters estimation.Based on the sparsity of the echo signal in space domain, the model of DOA estimation of array signal based on compression sensing is derived. The performance of DOA estimation is simulated in the model of SMV and MMV. Combining the target distance-doppler two-dimensional joint estimation, the model of DOA estimation based on compression sensing on the target distance-doppler unit is derived. The simulation results show good performance of DOA estimation.
