People’s production and life can not be separated from water,in order to save water resources,the implementation of domestic water metering and charging through the water meter.The traditional manual meter reading,not only need to spend a lot of human resources and cost,obtain the meter reading meter data may also appear errors caused by the waste of water resources at the same time,or even cause the dispute between the user and the tap water company.Especially in the high temperature,high pressure,radiation and other dangerous work environment,manual meter reading may be dangerous.With the continuous development of science and technology,automatic meter reading technology has been widely applied,effectively solve the above problems and save water resources,this project is based on the automatic recognition of digital image processing technique to study the water meter reading.This paper studies the design of water meter character recognition system from the aspects of image preprocessing,edge detection,character location,character recognition and so on.Based on the WINDOWS system,the software is developed in VC6.0 environment.The main research results are as follows:1、The pretreatment of the image collected by the camera.Because of the captured image distance may be different,need to adjust the size of image acquisition,in order to save space,need to convert the color image to gray image,at the same time,due to the interference of water meter image forming environment,illumination changes,transmission factors such as the need to filter out.2、To achieve the location of the digital characters in the water meter image location and character segmentation.In order to realize the automatic recognition of the digital character of the water meter,it is the key to find the location of the water meter.By observing the digital character of the digital character of the water meter image,using canny detection to obtain the edge of image,through the hough circle detection to remove the pointer area and the circular metal shell area pixel interference,and then through the hough straight line detection to find 4 straight lines,water meter character digital frame border in the 4 straight lines,finally,according to the digital characteristics and geometric features of the digital box,locate the digital frame.Then the characters in the digital box are segmented to prepare for the subsequent character recognition.3、Realization of digital character recognition in water meter image.There may be two cases of single character after segmentation,one is a complete character,one is because there is a space between adjacent numbers,wheel rolling into half character.According to the specific situation of a single character,the template matching algorithm is used to identify them.In this paper,the design of the water meter digital character recognition system can achieve high efficiency and accurate identification of digital characters,which is more practical than the traditional manual meter reading. |
