Leaky-wave antenna is a kind of traveling wave antenna which has been widely used in engineering.The existed research and design of leaky-wave antenna already has good performance.But there are still some problems such as large size,high cost,difficult to integrate and parasitic modes and surface waves and so on.All of these limit the further development and application of leaky-wave antenna.The SIW not only inherits the advantages of low metal and low insertion loss of traditional metal rectangular waveguide,but also has the characteristics of miniaturization and easy integration of microstrip,which has become a hotspot in recent years.With the help of the process,it is possible to mass-produce gap array leaky-wave antennas based on the SIW at low cost.The impedance bandwidth of traditional SIW gap array antenna is very narrow,which has become its broadband radar and other areas of application bottlenecks constraints.Considering the wide single-mode bandwidth of the ridge waveguide,the paper designs the leaky wave antenna makes the SIW and RSIW as the basic structure.In this paper,first a gap array leaky antenna has been designed which based on the SIW and as a reference contrast.Then,a leak-wave antenna based on RSIW has been designed,which compares with the former,the impedance bandwidth is wider than 20%,On this basis,using "butterfly" structure and covering the metal strip on the metal ridge,a new type of RSIW "butterfly" gap array leaky-wave wide antenna has been designed.This antenna's relative impedance bandwidth is wider 38% than others,and its sidelobe level,gain performance and scanning range are better than the former.All of the modeling and simulation process uses HFSS software.the third new type of RSIW "butterfly" gag array broadband leaky-wave antenna has been fabricated.According to the simulation data processing,and the S parameters,gain and pattern of the antenna,test results are in good agreement with the simulation results,which verifies the feasibility of this structure for leaky wave antenna design.
