Research Of Vehicle License Plate Recognition System Based On LabVIEW

As the rapid development of automobile industry and continuous improvement of people's living standards,the vehicle population of China is also increasing,which brings tremendous pressure to our automobile management.The large amount of vehicle identification needing to be recognition in the passageway of kinds of toll station and closed community,the effect of the vehicle license plate recognition system is growing more and more important in Intelligent Transportation System and community management.This thesis designed a kind of license plate recognition system based on Lab VIEW for the low speed domain,the vehicle triggers the camera to capture the picture,and transmit it to the software processing system,in the first place completing the image gradation conversion by histogram equalization,then median filtering de-noising,through this step,the system gets a image whth high contrast and little noise;in the second place,combining the edge detection and morphology to complete the rough location of the plate;in the end,taking advantage of the ratio of characteristic function to extract the solo plate.The system output the preprocessed plate,which can reduce the workload for later process.In the step of character segmentation,aiming at the character conglutination and incline,this system presents that combining the binary,color unified,morphological processing,tilt correction to preprocess the image,then conducting the step of character segmentation using OCR.In the step of OCR character segmentation,the system collects characters,and trains the OCR,then builts template library characters,based on the tealitis of the system installation.By this way,OCR can adapt the template library characters,then the recognition rate got enhanced.The results show that,the hardware structure and software system can guarantee the actual demand,it is fealible,laied the foundation for combining the transfinite penalty system or no parking charge system to constitute a intelligent transportation system.
