Nowadays, industrial automation has become more and more widely applications, in which Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) plays an important role. The development trend of PLC is miniaturization, function integration, and structure modularization. And the new generation of PLC will have higher performance and lower cost.On the basis of analysis of current PLC structure, working principle and modern industrial demand, this thesis presents a design scheme of miniature PLC by using ARM 32-bit CortexTM-M3 core, STM32F103VCT6 as MCU.Firstly, we introduce the basic concepts, working principle, and standard programming language of PLC. And then, we further give the design principle and concrete implementation of miniature PLC from several aspects, including hardware circuit design, reliability design, and PLCIEC61131-3 programming language design principles.Finally, in the thesis, we implement the production of circuit board, and the debugging of the hardware and software of the designed PLC. Meanwhile, its reliability and rationality is also verified. The research and development of the miniature PLC based on STM32F103VCT6 improve the opening-up and flexibility of the new generation PLC. Moreover, it also meets the requirement of PLC development trend, i.e., lower cost and higher performance with higher practical value.
