Internationally there are many research about vehicle-monitoring system based on GPS position for years, which mainly focus on single vehicle's position in the Geographic Information System (GIS). Usually these data will be sending to vehicle monitoring system through wireless communication technology. Vehicle monitoring system can show real-time vehicle location status within GIS by itself or other corresponding monitoring terminal. In order to realize the monitoring purpose, monitoring terminal queries vehicle's position information and updates the location periodically. However, there is no research about self-organizing motorcade monitoring system. The research object of this thesis is an innovative motorcade monitoring system. The system based on GPS allocation technology and ISM communication technology.First in this thesis, we discussed the the available choice for the two essential technologies of the motorcade monitoring system, allocation technology and communication technology. After analyzing satisfaction degree of deman, level of maturity of the technology, the cost of acquisition, finally we chose GPS as a allocation technology, ISM wireless communication technology as a communication technology. Based on this selection, we completed the high-level design of this system. Through the GPS system to obtain location information of each vehicle, and collect the entire motorcade location status by ISM wireless communication technology; this system can achieve the second level of real-time performance.Next, the thesis designs the hardware of the system in detail. System uses S3C6410 as main processor of the monitoring system, nRF905 as the wireless RF transmission module, GStar GS-87 module based SiRF3 as the positioning module. Therefore, the monitoring system has low overall cost, strong anti-interference, low power consumption and high stability. In order to facilitately connect the transmission module and the positioning module, we chose Tiny6410 as development board.Based on the Android development platform and map SDK, the App software of the metorcad monitoring system is completed. The software transmits and receives the position information and the heartbeat of the other vehicles through the transmission unit, and collects the current position information of the vehicle through the positioning unit. The positions of the vehicle itself and the other vehicles are showing on the map by different icons, which can improve the system's ease of use.The system has completed the hardware development based on Tiny6410, operating system porting, the hardware driver development and APP software implementation. By the function and performance test, we verified and achieved the monitoring of motorcade.
