The discovery of chaos and the establishment of chaotic theory, like the theory of relativity and quantum theory, is a major breakthrough for the deterministic classical theory of Newton, which opens a new window for the human observation of the material world. In the chaotic system, the chaotic circuit has always been a hot research topic. In the chaotic circuit system, chaotic Colpitts circuit is widely concerned because of its ability to produce microwave chaotic signal. Therefore, this paper is major in the design and application of chaotic Colpitts circuit.In this paper, the main characteristics and the determination method of chaos are studied, which lays a theoretical foundation for the analysis of chaotic circuit. Wien bridge circuit, Chua's circuit, typical and improved Colpitts circuits have been simulated. The mathematical model and characteristics of Colpitts circuits are analyzed theoretically. Based on typical and improved Colpitts circuits, a hyper chaotic Colpitts circuit has been designed. The fundamental frequency and bandwidth of the chaotic signal generated by the hyper chaotic Colpitts circuit are improved compared to the typical and improved Colpitts circuits. At the same time, the ultra wideband chaotic signal with the characteristic of radar signal is generated by the coupled hyper chaotic Colpitts circuit, and its effectiveness is verified by experiments.Finally, the chaotic Colpitts circuit is applied to the small microwave wireless power transmission system. Through experimental verification, the chaotic signal has high PAPR value, which can get higher transmission efficiency when used as excitation signal of the wireless transmission system. The hyper chaotic signal has the highest PAPR value. In this paper, the chaotic signal generated by the hyper chaotic Colpitts circuit can obtain better performance of wireless transmissions when used as the excitation signal.
