Chaotic signal is a kind of deterministic signal with noise-likecharacteristics. As radar waveforms, ultra-wideband chaotic signals have goodresolution of distance and velocity, low probability of interception, andstrong properties of ECCM. Considering the need of a practical radar, thegenerating of signal, the technologies about receiving and transmitting andthe processing of the UWB signal of the radar system are discussed. First, the simulation of generating circuits of ultra-wideband chaotic signals iscarried out, and a new circuit using three cascading Colpitts oscillators forgenerating ultra-wideband chaotic signal is proposed. With the help of P Spice, the waveform and the frequency spectrum of the above chaotic signal aresimulated. Results of the simulation show that a flat and wide frequencyspectrum of chaotic signal could be easily generated in this way. Next, thecorrelation and ambiguity characteristics of the chaotic signal are analyzedby means of Matlab. It is confirmed that the ultra-wideband chaotic signalhas good resolution of distance and velocity, and strong properties of ECCM.Second, the technology of ultra-wide band antennas is discussed, and thecharacteristics of biconical antenna and LPD antenna are analyzed on emphasis. After that, a simple one-order low noise amplifier is designed with the helpof ADS. At last, the discrete and quantified ultra-wideband chaotic signalis analyzed, and it is confirmed that the processed signal has excellentcharacteristics of correlation.
