Study On Automatic Zoom Method For PTZ Camera

Recently, video surveillance has been applied more and more widely, and become an important component of the security industry. The capability of adjustment monitoring angle and automatic focusing of PTZ(Pan/Tilt/Zoom) camera can improve the level of video monitoring. In practice, the resolutions of targets are not enough due to the target far away from the camera, which limits the monitoring performance of the surveillance system. Therefore, researching an automatic zoom video monitoring method driven by targets, has more theoretical significance and practical value.Firstly, based on an introduction about video surveillance and the analysis of PTZ camera, we think that a video surveillance system with automatic tuning and zooming function is helpful to improve the actual effect of video surveillance.Secondly, in order to establish an automatic zoom video surveillance system target driven, an improved VIBE target detection method is proposed. The presented method is implemented by using adaptive threshold and edge enhancement techniques focusing on improving the anti-interference and completeness of target detection of the original VIBE algorithm.Moreover, according to the requirement in practice, two automatic control method of PTZ camera were proposed. The scene calibration method is applicable to a fixed camera(camera is installed on a fixed place) and the other method without scene calibration is suitable for mobile surveillance(camera mounted on a mobile platform).Finally, an automatic zoom video surveillance system involving PTZ camera is established. A video surveillance software was developed on the basis of analyzing each module of the system, and the experimental results and analysis were described in detail. Experimental results show that the system can automatically control the PTZ camera.
