The road surveillance radar plays an important role in the process of road information collection by virtue of its own unique advantages.Radar data processing is the key technology of traffic radar inf ormation collection. By processing the target vehicle data detected by the radar, the motion information of the vehicle is obtained and the position of the next moment is predicted. Thus, the target vehicles can be monitored and traced. The function of vehicle collision avoidance can be achieved.In this paper, the target tracking module in radar data processing is studied based on the development of traffic information acquisition radar. Besides, the design and implementation of radar display and control system are carried out. The main work is as follows:(1) The multi objects tracking in radar data processing module is studied, and the tracking algorithm is programmed. Besides, a tracking algorithm library is established. In order to reduce the computation time of the algorithm, the traditional JPDA algorithm is improved in the process of data association. In the process of generating the confirmation matrix, the effect of small probability measurement is excluded in the target tracking range gate and then, a new recognition matrix is established. Test results show that the new recognition matrix has little effect on the tracking accuracy of the target; while it can reduce the computation quantity and improve the real-time property of targets tracking.(2) Functional requirement analysis and module partition of the Road surveillance radar display-control software are completed. The display-control software is developed with VC++ language based on Visual Studio.Net Microsoft 2010 development platform. The display-control software has the follow functions: real-time receiving and processing of target data; storage and playback of data; real-time display of target location and motion information; system self test; real-time display of the camera screen and so on. Considering the large amount of radar transmission data and the high real-time of signal processing, this paper focuses on the study of multi thread technology, double buffer mapping technology. Test results show that the data receiving and processing speed of the system is improved and that the image display performance is enhanced.The tracking test of the traffic radar to moving vehicles is currently completed. The test results show that the traffic radar can well track the moving vehicles in front of the radar and that the radar can well avoid traffic accidents. Moreover, the traffic radar can well count traffic flow on the highway and the accuracy rate of vehicle traffic flow counting is more than 85%.
