With the development of the aviation industry,aviation security has become increasingly important. And the safety and reliability of airborne equipment directly affect aviation safety. The airborne weather radar is the important subsystem of airborne avionics system. The damage of weather radar leads to aircraft return midway and influence flight itinerary as well as bring huge loss to Airline and Airport. So it is very important to forecast the time and trend of fault. It is very important to maintain and replace the damaged aviation device in advance. The main failure of weather radar system is the cooling system fault. AMETEK aviation fan is the core component of cooling system, and the power plant of fan is permanent split phase capacitor motor. Abnormal motor running affects the operation efficiency of weather radar. It is very important to rapid and valid forecast failure of the motor.Based on architectural feature of cooling system, it is analyzed the failure mechanism of weather radar cooling system and its power plant-capacitor motor. Through using controlling statistical process method, it can have obtain initial-stage estimation of the capacitor motor causing maintenance personnel's attention so that to do real time monitoring of cooling system of weather radar. Based on advanced particle swarm optimization algorithm to optimize penalty factors and kernel function parameters of SVM, it is can increase the regression prediction accuracy of SVM. The combination of support vector regression and support vector classification is used to make regression prediction of voltage and current data of capacitor motor so that to build the fault prediction model of the motor. It can estimate the operating status of capacitor motor.Through simulation and field test result show that the motor fault prediction model based on SVM can rapidly and accurately predict the fault of motor of weather radar cooling system. The prediction also has the practical value to guarantee the weather radar system working well and flight safety.
