Pulse blanking is the most widely used method to mitigate impulsive noise in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems. However, the reliability of link transmission for OFDM systems is significantly degraded by the inter-carrier interference(ICI), which is introduced by the pulse blanking. To analyze the effect of ICI caused by the pulse blanking on the error performance of OFDM receivers, the study of the performance of OFDM receivers with pulse blanking is carrid out in this thesis. The main research contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly,to analyze the effect of impulsive noise on the error performance of the OFDM receiver quantitatively, the expression of the signal-to-interference-noise ratio(SINR) for the output at the demodulator of the single input single output(SISO) OFDM receiver is derived in frequency selective fading channel based on the Bernoulli-Gaussian impulsive noise model.Further, the calculated expressions for symbol error probability of the OFDM receiver with M-PSK modulation and M-QAM modulation are also derived. Computer simulation results show that the analysis results validate the correctness of the derived formulas.Secondly, to analyze the effect of ICI caused by the pulse blanking on the error performance of OFDM receivers quantitatively, the expression of the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) for the output at the demodulator of OFDM receiver with pulse blanking is derived in frequency selective fading channel based on the Bernoulli-Gaussian impulsive noise model.Further, the calculated expressions for the symbol error probability of the OFDM receiver with pulse blanking are also derived. Computer simulation results show that the analysis results validate the correctness of the derived formulas.Thirdly, the analysis method of the error performace for OFDM receiver with pulse blanking is extended to OFDM employing maximum ratio combining(MRC) systems,space-time block coding(STBC) OFDM systems, and multiple input multiple output(MIMO)OFDM systems. Similarly, the error performance of MRC-OFDM, STBC-OFDM MIMO-OFDM receivers with pulse blanking are analyzed quantitatively, and the calculated expressions for the error performance are also derived in frequency selective fading channels.Computer simulation results show that the analysis results validate the correctness of the derived formulas.
