Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) is a radio communication technique. It identifies specific targets and acquires related data from the backend database by using radio frequency signal and no physical touch needed. Radio frequency identification systems, given the advantages of low cost and convenience in identifying an object with non-line-of-sight reading, have many applications and many potential applications, such as in manufacturing, supply chain management, access control, inventory control, e-passports, pharmacies/hospital management. However, the information, which is transmitted via radio signal, is easily eavesdropped and traced by an attacker. Traditional encryption-based radio frequency identification authentication protocol require a large amount of computation, therefore it cannot be adopted to the resource-limited devices. Due to the potential wide deployment of radio frequency identification, the security and privacy problem of RFID systems has drawn extensive attention from both academia and industry, and the RFID authentication protocol is an important mechanism in the security of RFID systems. We proposed three RFID authentication protocols, a lightweight protocol based on Error Correction Codes(ECC), an ultra-lightweight protocol based on permutation operation and an ultra-lightweight protocol based on Physically Unclonable Function(PUF). The proposed schemes have excellent performance in terms of security, efficiency, server 's maintenance, robustness, and cost.
