With the passing of time and human destruction, large-scale infrastructure(such as large bridges, large reservoirs, etc.) perhaps take place micro deformation, which will lead to bridge fracture, reservoir slope collapse and other disasters and bring life threatening and significant economic losses to people. The accumulation of micro deformation is a kind of quantitative change, which will lead to disaster. It is the primary parameter to monitor structural health of large buildings. Therefore, it is very important to monitor, collect and analyze the deformation of large buildings. Micro displacement data recorder is a comprehensive terminal instrument, which is designed for detecting the micro-displacement of large scale structures such as bridges and towers. It can realize the functions of data acquisition, processing, display, control, storage and transmission.Firstly, this paper introduces the development history and trend of data recorder and proposes the overall design scheme of data recorder according to requirements of the project. This system consists of client module and server module. Client works at the test site. The server is located in the remote monitoring center and works on PC. It can display and store the data which is sent by the client in real time through the network. The server also can control the client and change the parameter configuration and the working state of the client.Secondly, this paper mainly introduces the software design and hardware design of the micro displacement data recorder. In the hardware design, this paper gives the whole block diagram of the client module. The client module consists of phase detector, AD7606, OMAPL138 development board(including LCD screen), SATA disk and SIM900. The phase discriminator can convert the phase difference between the transmitted signal and received signal to analog voltage signals. The AD module converts analog signals to digital signals and sends them to the OMAPL138 development board. This development board has powerful data processing capability and rich peripheral interface. Data storage of SATA disk and alarm function of SIM900 can be realized through these interfaces. OMAPL138 chip consists of ARM and DSP. ARM processor has excellent control characteristic and DSP has powerful data processing ability. Dual core communication ability provided by SysLink toolkit, makes full use of the advantages of dual core and ensures the stability of the system. The software design mainly includes five parts, including the development environment set up, the dual core communication design, the interface design, the communication design and the storage design. This paper mainly introduces the design of dual core communication and the interface design.Finally, experimental test and data analysis of the micro displacement data recorder are carried out. Experimental tests including laboratory simulation experiments and external field experiments. Two experiments have achieved good results. Micro displacement data recorder is an important part of the micro displacement measurement system. It has very important significance to ensure the safety of large buildings.
