In recent years, the information system construction has been taken seriously by the public. As the backbone of information system, a computer room with high reliability, high security, and high scalability plays a vital role in the whole process. Most of the equipments in the computer room need run continuously 24 hours a day. If monitoring in accordance with the traditional mode, managers need to supervise the computer room in the system of working in shifts, which requires a large amount of manpower. Moreover, some rooms have bad distributional environment. Once the working personnel can't perceive and handle equipment failure in time, it will cause great damage. So the traditional monitoring mode has made great claims upon manpower and material resources as well as the level of technical knowledge of related personnel. The traditional monitoring mode can't meet the demand of information establishment in the era of diversified network applications.In view of the disadvantages of the traditional mode of computer room monitoring, we put forward the design of the Power and Environment Monitoring System for the computer room based on Web. Build the computer room monitoring on the Web, which can help us achieve remote real-time monitor of computer room environment through the browser. This system can solve the problems met by traditional monitoring mode.This system carries on demand analysis through market research. It will monitor and control temperature, humidity, water leakage, power distribution, closed circuit television, precision air conditioning and access control of the computer room. It adopts the monitoring method of B/S mode, dividing the whole system into three layers, namely field apparatus, server and client. To elaborate on client layer, with web programming technology and careful design of the monitoring platform, various functions of the system are integrated and displayed on web browser in a user-friendly way. The server can be logically divided into data processing server, Web server and database server. The data processing server is designed with philosophy of modularization, to store and process the data collected by field apparatus. On the choice of the Web server and database server, we use the golden combination of Apache + PHP + and MySQL. For the field apparatus, all sorts of apparatus are connected with serial port server through serial port RS232 /485/422 to collect the data from the field and transmit them to the server for processing via serial ports.Finally, test is conducted on the performance of the monitoring platform and the communication between client and database, and the test results meet expectations.
