Forwarding Strategies Research And Implementation In Content Centric Network

With the rapid development of Internet technology and multimedia applications, more and more network applications and services are concerned with the content itself instead of its position, which is inconsistent with the host-to-host communcation patten of IP-based networks. In recent years, Information Centric Networking(ICN) has emerged to solve the problems of IP network such as the data transmission, Quality of Service, mobility and security. Content Centric Networking (CCN) is one of the most promising architecture among ICN proposals. Unlike traditional IP network, CCN provides unique identification for each content chunk, and performs content distribution, caching, forwarding and retrival based on its name,, and achieves better security by content encryption and authentication.One of the key features of CCN architecture is its transparent, ubiquitious in-network caching, which improves data transmission efficiency and network resource utilization. Since CCN uses chunk-level interest packet to obtain the corresponding content chunk, how to forward interest packet reasonably and make full use of cache resources to obtain data packets have a great impact on the performance of CCN. In this thesis, we choose forwarding mechanism in CCN network as the starting point, and analyze the forwarding strategies of inter-domain and intra-domain. There as three contributions as the follows:. Firstly, on the basis of study and comparison of proposed intra-domain forwarding strategies, a new forwarding strategy based on pre-inquiry is designed. While the interest packet requesting for the first content chunk is sent out, pre-inquiry packets are also sent out to other neighbours in order to obtain the information of subsequent chunks. By using these information,surrounding cached contents are fully used, the cost of following interest packets are reduced and the acquisition time of content are shorten.Secondly, the current researches of CCN network forwarding strategies are mostly concentrated in a single autonomous domain. Unlike intra-domain forwarding strategy, the targets of multi-autonomous domain forwarding strategy are not only improving the network performance, but also meeting inter-domain business relationships. Inter-domain forwarding strategies that based on the business relationship is proposed in this thesis, and three forwarding strategies named as Query Success Rate Forwarding First, Minimum Cost Forwarding First, and Low Resource Consumption Forwarding First are developed too. These strategies can meet users' demand and business relationships very well.Finally, the forwarding engine of CCNSim is externed, and the pre-inquiry intra-domain strategy and inter-domain strategies that based on business relationships are realized to verify their correctness and performance via simulation.
