As an emerging thing, the invention and application of robot have a great influence on the production and life of human beings. With the continuous development of robot technology, it has also stimulated the technological changes in the related fields, such as sensor technology, drive control technology, computer technology and so on. The intelligent mobile robot is an important branch of robotics research. The research mainly focuses on information acquisition, navigation, path planning, human-computer interaction and so on. At present, many developed countries have set up a long-term development plan of robot technology. The research and application of robot technology reflects a national high and new technology level.The security patrol robot which is a kind of intelligent robot can reduce the labor intensity of human beings, at the same time can finish the monitor tasks safely and reliably in the dangerous area. The way of flight inspection is the development direction of security patrol robot in the future. Four rotor aircraft is a novel structure of aircraft. It can be convenient to realize the flight mode of vertical take-off and landing, fixed point hover and six freedom-degree space mobility. Compared with the traditional helicopter, this kind of aircraft has the advantages of high flying attitude and high space freedom, and it is more suitable for the operation platform of security patrol robot.This research is a kind of intelligent patrol robot based on the four rotor aircraft. It can carry out patrol automatically and intelligently in the patrol area. It also can monitor harmful gas, temperature, fire hazard and so on. So it can be used in flammable and combustible articles, poisonous gas and other dangerous environment. It can also be used in the automation monitoring of factory. It achieves unmanned intelligent patrol to ensure the safety of personnel. If expanding its function, it should be used in monitoring and patrol in various environment.The design and implementation of the upper computer control system platform has completed in this paper. It includes the upper computer navigation and control system. As well as the expansion of the four rotor aircraft sensor. And the intelligent patrol robot has been verified in the laboratory environment. The verification results show that the overall operation of intelligent patrol robot system is good.
