Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) is an element analysis technology with pure optical process. LIBS has many advantages including simple experimental method, no need of sample preparation, rapid analysis, real-time online and multi-element analysis, etc, which make it found wide spread applications in food safety, environment monitoring, chemistry, new energy and biomedicine. On the basis of extensive investigation, this paper introduces the principle, typical experimental system and recent developments of LIBS technology, then focuses on the analysis of the algorithm and the construction of the remote LISB/RSS detection system, at last introduces the experiments of detecting the human hair, minerals, etc using LIBS/RSS system. This thesis is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(No:11204226), the main research work and achievements are as follows:(1)The particle swarm optimization(PSO) and the biogeography-based optimization(BBO)were introduced to solve the problem of LIBS quantitative analysis. Combined with multi-layer perceptron(MLP), the BBO-MLPs and PSO-MLPs analysis models were built respectively. Then the two models were applied to analyze the contents of heavy metal in water. The evaluation indexes show that the PSO-MLPs and BBO-MLPs models can be applied to the LIBS quantitative analysis, and both of them have good detection performance.(2)A LIBS/RSS remote sensing system was built, which can be used to detect atomic emission spectral signals and resonant Raman spectral signals of samples at the same time.We implemented the LIBS/RRS system to detect mineral, metal, alcohol, acetone and human hair in the distance of 3m. Then the experimental system was improved to increase the detection range to 15 m. In 15 m distance we detected the ores and metals and achieved good results.
