Since that coal is the major fuel in the thermal power plant, the quality of the coal has a direct connection with the safety, economical efficiency and environmental friendly character of the enterprise. In order to solve this problem, how to do the analysis of the characters of coals is the key in this process. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, as a powerful analytical spectroscopy technique and significant progress has been made towards many fields due to its versatility of fast, in-situ and multi-element capability. The purpose of this thesis is to apply LIBS for coal quality analysis, focused on the power coal quality analysis indexes, in order to provide theoretical basis for coal quality analysis by Libs. The difficulties for the coal quality analysis were analyzed and the significance and background of the thesis were stated. The mechanisms, experimental set-ups, and calibration model of LIBS were introduced in detail. Based on having a deep understanding of the papers existed right now, I not only master the interaction of laser with samples, but also learn how to optimize LIBS parameters.Through theoretical analysis and experimental research, analyzed the pulverized sample spectral characteristics related to mining coal quality quantitative analysis of volatile information, while the introduction of multivariate analysis, extraction and detection of volatiles associated spectral data, a combination of different quantitative methods the establishment of a different calibration models to verify the feasibility of obtaining volatile index of coal directly by LIBS.The LIBS is taken into industrial analysis of coal quality indicators measured by extracting coal quality analysis of indicators related to industrial line information, combined with multivariate analysis methods, to establish different regression models, analysis results with high accuracy. This work offers a new way to conduct proximate analysis of coal by LIBS, rather than by ultimate analysis indirectly. Finally, I would like to do the summary of the whole paragraph and hold the strong expectations to applying LIBS in the future coal analysis.
